Gardaí believe Sligo deaths due to gas poisoning

Gardaí have described the deaths of three members of the same family at their County Sligo home on Sunday night as a tragic incident.

It is thought they may have died as a result of gas poisoning.

Gardaí are waiting for the results of toxicology tests on the three and say they are keeping an "open mind" in their investigation.

The victims of this tragedy have been named locally as 52-year-old Trevor Wallwork, who was originally from Lancashire in England, his 12-year-old daughter Kim and nine-year-old son Henry.

It is understood they had moved to live in Moygara near Gurteen about five years ago.

Mr Wallwork was found sitting in front of the television and the two children were on the floor.

Gardaí say the results of toxicology tests carried out on the bodies at Sligo General Hospital will help establish if they died due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

However, it is understood that the results of the tests may not be known for several weeks.
