An industry group is today calling on the Government to make science a compulsory subject at Junior Cert level.

PCI represents the chemical and pharmaceutical industry.

A survey of their members showed 89% want the Government to ensure every student studies science for the first three years of secondary school.

The group is also urging the Government to increase the number of internships in the sector to ensure students get improved workplace experience.
