A Limerick woman is celebrating after her fundraising efforts reached her target of €1m after 34 years.

Tina O'Gorman, aged 54, from Moyross set out her goal when she was 19, and hit the milestone with her latest campaign which raised €5,000 for the Mid-West Parkinson's Association.

She applies for a permit from the Gardaí for each charity collection, and they keep a record.

Mrs O'Gorman, who has six daughters and eight grandchildren, has also used the occasion to call on the Finance Minister Michael Noonan to think of those less well off ahead of this year's Budget.
