Naas Town Council call special meeting after race row
A special meeting of Naas Town Council has been called for this evening, after the Mayor of the town, Darren Scully, announced he will no longer represent those of black African origin living in Naas.
Councillor Scully admitted on local radio this morning that he finds their attitude "aggressive".
The remarks have sparked outrage with the Labour TD Aodhan O'Riordan calling on the Gardaí to investigate what he describes as "racist" comments.
The Fine Gael Party has also distanced itself from the statement, saying that the views expressed by Councillor Scully do not reflect the views of Fine Gael.
