President Higgins asks for salary reduction

President Michael D Higgins has asked for his salary to be cut.

Michael D Higgins wrote to the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform to offer a voluntary reduction in pay.

It is not clear how much of a cut he has taken from the €325,000-a-year salary.
