Public rally in Thurles to protest at community-hospital cuts
A public rally will be held in Thurles in Co Tipperary today in protest over the recent HSE decision to close 22 respite beds in a local community hospital.
Today's demonstration is due to start at 2pm at the Community Hospital of the Assumption with the gathering then marching to Liberty Square in Thurles where local representatives will be addressing the crowd.
The Community Hospital of the Assumption was hit by recent cuts even though the hospital stayed within its budget.
Organisers of today's protest, the Community Hospital Action Group, is calling on locals to come out and support the cause.
