Report: 'Significant' new information in du Plantier murder case

'Significant' new information is understood to have emerged in the Sophie Toscan du Plantier murder investigation.

TV3 is reporting that lawyers for journalist Ian Bailey, who is wanted for questioning by French authorities in the case, have asked for a meeting with the Supreme Court tomorrow morning.

They are thought to believe that the new information could have a major bearing on an extradition order approved by the High Court here last March, after French authorities last year issued a European arrest warrant.

French film producer Sophie Toscan du Plantier was found dead in Schull, West Cork, 15 years ago.

Mr Bailey has been arrested on two occasions, but has always protested his innocence.

An appeal hearing on his extradition to France is already due to be heard on Monday.
