Gardaí investigate fatal road accident in Mayo

Gardaí are today investigating a single-vehicle fatal road accident at Belcarra, about 10 km outside Castlebar, Co Mayo.

The accident occurred at around 7am this morning.

A man in his 20s, the driver and sole occupant of a car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to Mayo General Hospital where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

The road at the scene is closed pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
