The country will be hit with a €3.8bn cutbacks-and-tax-hikes package in the forthcoming Budget, Finance Minister Michael Noonan has confirmed.

The Government insists the savings – €200m more than previously estimated – are needed to prepare the country for any further shocks amid a deepening eurozone crisis.
