Ian Bailey appeal to be heard in two weeks

Ian Bailey's appeal against his extradition to France has been scheduled for Monday week.

The 53-year-old former journalist is wanted by French authorities for questioning over the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

Ian Bailey's appeal is to be heard over three days on Monday week.

The 53-year-old is challenging a High Court ruling last March allowing his surrender to France in connection with the death of French film producer Sophie Toscan du Plantier in Schull, West Cork, 15 years ago.

He has always denied any involvement.

His case was briefly mentioned before the Supreme Court today which heard submissions have been filed and the matter will proceed unless issues arise in the meantime.

Ian Bailey is challenging whether he can be lawfully extradited in circumstances where the victim is French but the alleged offence took place here and the DPP has decided not to prosecute.
