Teenage girl killed, six taken to hospital after Galway crash
A teenage girl has died and six others are injured following a two-car crash in Co Galway.
The collision occurred at around 11.30am today on the road between Killimor and Portumna.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other female occupants of the same car were taken to University College Hospital Galway.
There were two men and two children in the second car. Their injuries are not known.
The road is closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The Galway crash followed another fatality in Cork, where another teenage girl died early today.
The 18-year-old girl was killed after the jeep she was driving hit a ditch at Ahagilla near Clonakilty.
No other vehicle was involved in the collision which took place at 5am today.
