Early indications suggest Fine Gael is out of the race for a Dáil seat in Dublin West.
By-election tallies put Labour's Patrick Nulty in the lead, closely followed by Fianna Fáil and the Socialist Party candidate.
With half the boxes tallied the favourite to take the Dublin West Dáil seat Labour's Patrick Nulty is ahead on 26%.
Fianna Fáil will be pleased with David McGuinness's performance as he is on 22%, ahead of socialist Ruth Coppinger on 20%.
Fine Gael's Eithne Loftus is lagging on 14%, Sinn Féin is on 7.5% and the Greens are on 5%.
Fine Gael will take comfort that votes from her home area of Castleknock have not yet been tallied.
