Gardaí arrest three after Meath jewellery robbery

Three men have been arrested after the armed robbery of a Co. Meath jewellers this evening.

The 70-year-old owner of the shop was assaulted during the incident, which happened on Emmett Street in Trim at about 4.50pm this evening.

Gardaí responding to the robbery arrested one man outside the shop and the other two were arrested a short time later, with the assistance of the Regional Support Unit and the Garda Air Support Unit.

What is believed to be an imitation firearm was also recovered.

The owner of the shop is recovering from his injuries at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The men are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
