A lesbian couple who lost a legal case to overturn the prohibition on same-sex marriage has vowed to continue their lawsuit.

A lesbian couple who lost a legal case to overturn the prohibition on same-sex marriage has vowed to continue their lawsuit.

Dr Ann Louise Gilligan and Senator Katherine Zappone said they were "£deeply disappointed" by the Supreme Court's decision to reject their effort to challenge the consititutionality of Section 2.2 of the Civil Registration Act.

The couple said they would begin immediate consultation with their lawyers to determine the best course of action.
