Opposition parties have called on the Government to push the EU for burden-sharing on Irish bank debt.

Fianna Fáil have said the EU should give Ireland the same benefits as Greece when it comes to writing off such debts.

Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore said the Government will push for the best deal for the Irish taxpayer.

But Fianna Fáil's deputy leader Eamon O'Cuiv said the Government should insist on a better deal on bank debt.
