Irish Life workers balloted on possible industrial action

Some 1,000 workers at the state-owned Irish Life assurance company are to vote in a ballot which, if passed, could lead to industrial action in early November.

The workers, who are members of the UNITE trade union, agreed to commence the ballot at a meeting in Dublin this evening.
