Court orders remedial works at Priory Hall apartments
The High Court has ordered building works to be carried out to fix potentially fatal fire risks at Priory Hall apartments in North Dublin.
However, Dublin City Council has expressed concern in the High Court as to whether Tom McFeely, the developer behind the Donaghmede complex, is able to finance the project.
Mr McFeely initially tried to dodge reporters leaving court having promised to carry out remedial works to improve fire safety at Priory Hall.
The judge said he will police the upgrade, the first phase of which is to be completed by late November.
In the meantime, 249 residents will be evacuated from their homes and moved to the Regency Hotel in Dublin.
Nobody in the court seemed prepared to foot the residents' €200,000 hotel bill.
For the moment, the onus to pay the bill has been put on Dublin City Council, at least until the developers disclose a full statement of their means in court this Friday.
