Family celebrates safe return of daughter from Syria

The family of a six-year-old girl who was taken to Syria by her father five weeks ago is celebrating her return to Ireland.

May's mother Louise Monaghan travelled to Damascus to bring her daughter home after her ordeal began on September 7.

An emotional homecoming was waiting for them when they flew back to Dublin on Saturday night.

May's aunt Mandy said the little girl was delighted to be back, and spent all day yesterday on a new bike, playing with her cousin.

"I still keep coming into the room to make sure (May and Lousie) are actually there - I still think I'm dreaming!" she said.
