Ireland to introduce microchipped drivers' licences

Ireland will begin phasing in a new style of driving licence from next year.

Under European Union rules, the microchipped cards will carry details of drivers' penalty points.

Gardaí will be able to use the credit-card sized licences to check up on wider details of the motorists' record on the road.
