Poll: Most emigrants will never return

Most people believe that Ireland's current wave of emigrants will not come back, according to an Irish Times Ipsos/MRBI poll.

The poll found that 59% of those polled would never return, while just 33% thought they would.

There was a large difference in opinion between the better off and the less well-off with the wealthier being more optimistic.

While poorer people tended to believe emigration was permanent.
