Drop in number of planning applications approved

A 38.5% drop has been recorded in the number of planning applications given the green light in second quarter of 2011 compared to the same period last year.

New CSO figures show that permission was granted for a total of just 3,310 units between April and June, down from 5,378 in the same quarter in 2010.
