Community sector workers to discuss Govt cutbacks

Community sector workers are to come together today to discuss how best to tackle the challenges posed by government cuts as one of a series of nationwide events organised by SIPTU.

Today's event takes place in Galway (11am at the Carlton Hotel), and will be attended by people involved in childcare, social inclusion, elder care, and training.

SIPTU said local services had suffered disproportionately from cuts over the past three years. The union wants to come up with proposals to defend existing projects from further cuts.
