Calls to rape crisis centre soar after TV programme

Calls to The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre helpline have spiked following the broadcast of a television programme depicting a sexually violent storyline.

The number for the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre appeared on television screens last night after an episode of 'Coronation Street'.

In addition the number, 1800 77 88 88 appeared on 'The Late Late Show' during an interview conducted with three women about their experiences of sexual abuse as children.

Chief Executive of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, Ellen O'Malley Dunlop is urging women who need help to get in touch and avail of the services.
