Court bid to prevent closure of Tipperary post office

An action group has gone to the High Court to try and save the post office in the village of Bansha in Co Tipperary.

The court has heard that a notice only went up yesterday informing customers of the closure at 5pm this evening.

It was submitted that the next post office is six miles from the village, buses are irregular and old people will turn up in the morning to find the office closed.

The judge said it was regrettable people will be inconvenienced but he has refused to make a decision on the post office's future until he hears from An Post next Monday.
