Man charged with raping young girl in Belfast

A 50-year-old man has been charged with raping a young girl in Belfast.

The accused was arrested in Southampton on Friday to face questions over a number of alleged sexual offences against the girl, aged in her teens, in Belfast this year and last year.

He has also been charged with meeting a child following sexual grooming and arranging or facilitating a child sexual offence.

The man is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

He was detained in England by detectives from the PSNI’s Public Protection Unit.
