HSE staff working at the Cork Farm Centre in Dennehys Cross have been evacuated from the building after a fire broke out earlier.

The alarm was raised just before 11am today and four units of the fire service attended the scene.

They are currently tackling the blaze which it is believed may have begun on the first floor.

As a result, a number of the HSE South's phonelines on the Model Farm Road are down and internet access is also severely limited.

This is the second time in recent years that a fire has broken out in the Farm Centre.

On the last occasion, HSE workers had to be accommodated in an alternative building for a number of months as the Farm Centre was badly smoke-damaged.
