Boxer wins court action against panel omission
Boxer Michael O'Reilly is back on the panel for the Irish team for next week's European Youth Championship after a High Court action.
The Irish Amateur Boxing Association dropped the reigning youth champion after he skipped a training session on August 4 to get his van fixed after a minor accident which arose when he let a 17-year-old junior boxer without insurance or a license park the vehicle.
Today Mr Justice John Cooke found it probable the coach didn't warn the Portlaoise boxer what would happen if he didn't attend the training session.
The central council of the Irish Boxing Association will decide tomorrow if the 18-year-old makes the Irish team.
