Manhunt begins after woman reports serious sexual assault

A 31-year-old woman has been subjected to an alleged serious sexual assault near Belfast city centre, police said.

The victim had taken a lift from an unknown man in the Waring Street area in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He drove her to the Regent Street area where he attacked her.

Detectives from the PSNI’s rape crime unit have appealed for anyone who noticed anything suspicious to come forward.
