Liam Adams starts fight against extradition

Liam Adams has begun his High Court fight against extradition to the North on abuse charges.

The 55-year-old brother of Sinn Féin's Gerry Adams is wanted to face multiple charges of rape and indecent assault against his daughter Aine Tyrell when she was aged between four and 10 years old.

The 38-year-old has waived her right to anonymity.

Adams turned himself into gardaí in Dublin in March 2010 after a European Arrest Warrant was issued by the PSNI.

He denies all the charges against him.

Counsel for Adams today told the court that his client would not receive a fair trial in the North.

The hearing, which is expected to last two days, was adjourned until Thursday.
