Union officials representing staff at Glaxo Smith Kline in Co. Waterford are to meet with management at the company today, in an effort to get a commitment from them that there will be no compulsory redundancies.

Yesterday, the pharmaceutical company announced that its to cut 130 jobs at its plant in Dungarvan over the next three years.

It is understood 48 job losses are due to the transfer of manufacturing of one product to Spain.

Also, more than 80 jobs are to go as GSK tries to cut costs.
