Man seriously hurt after falling from unlit bonfire

A 38-year-old man is in a critical condition after falling from an unlit bonfire.

Police were called to the New Mossley area of Newtownabbey at about 8am by a concerned resident.

As officers arrived he fell and sustained serious injuries.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said he has been taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
