Scrappage scheme to come to an end

The car scrappage scheme, which was announced in December 2009, comes to an end today.

The scheme offered motorists €1,500 off new low emissions cars, if they scrapped their own cars that were aged 10 years or older.

Over 29,000 cars have been sold since the scheme first began a year and a half ago.
