Report: Over 1,000 university employees have €100k salary
It has been reported that more than 1,000 employees at Ireland's seven universities and the Dublin Institute of Technology earn an annual salary of more than €100,000.
According to the Sunday Times, the country's highest paid university employee is UCD's Vice President for research, Des Fitzgerald, who earns over €263,000 a year.
The news comes after the Minister for Public Expenditure Brendan Howlin announced last week that he is to cap the salaries of all civil servants at €200,000.
Future CEOs of semi-State companies will also have the pay capped at €250,000.
