More power plants to be built at Sellafield

Sellafield has been named among other sites in Britain for the construction of eight new privately owned nuclear power plants.

The new plants will be built in England and Wales under plans published by the British government yesterday.

They are all adjacent to existing plants, and could be in action by 2025.

The controversial decision is in contrast to that of Germany, which has moved to close all nuclear plants by 2022 following the nuclear disaster at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan earlier this year.
