Leading economist Colm McCarthy has said the Government needs to cut more than the planned €3.6bn in December's Budget.

Mr McCarthy, author of the An Bord Snip Nua report, said Ireland needs to focus on getting our borrowings to zero sooner rather than later, in order to get our financial independence back.
