Murder of sleeping busker 'brutal and callous'
The murder of a 33-year-old French busker who was asleep when he was shot through the window of his Bray home, has been described in court today as brutal and callous.
The jury is hearing closing speeches in the trial of Declan Sheridan of Sugarloaf View, Sea Road, Kilcoole and James O'Connor of Kilbridge Grove, Bray, who deny killing Charles Sinapayen in Fassaroe on May 29, 2009.
In its closing the prosecution, told the jury that sadly the evidence sheds no light as to why Charles Sinapayen was the victim of a meaningless and senseless murder.
The French busker died two days after he was shot in the head through the bedroom of his apartment in Bray.
His girlfriend Mary Kinlan slept through the shooting.
In her evidence, she asked God for justice, telling the jury an innocent man died for nothing.
The main prosecution witness Keith Lowe told the court that he had driven James O'Connor and another man to the scene and heard two loud bangs as he waited for them to return to the car.
In his closing address for Declan Sheridan, defence counsel Anthony Salmon has warned the jury that Keith Lowe is a criminal accomplice trying to save his own neck and that his evidence must be handled with a lot of care.
