The Sinn Féin President has said he will not be putting himself forward as a potential candidate for the Presidential election in October.

Adams rules out bid for Presidency

The Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has today said that he will not be putting himself forward as a potential candidate for the Presidential election in October.

However, Mr Adams did not rule out submitting a hopeful from within his party.

He was speaking ahead of Sinn Féin's Ard Comhairle meeting in Dublin today, at which he confirmed the upcoming presidential election will be discussed.
