Gardaí seek information on Mayo assault
Gardaí are appealing for information after claims that a woman was seriously assaulted in Co. Mayo last weekend.
The alleged attack happened at a festival organised in opposition to the Corrib gas pipeline.
The 'Party against the Pipe' festival took place in Pollathomas in Co Mayo over the June bank holiday break, last weekend.
The aim was to celebrate more than a decade of resistance to Shell's controversial project.
A large number of people went along to hear music and see dance and comedy performances, but Gardaí are now asking all attendees to make contact with them after a woman claimed she was seriously assaulted at the overnight event.
The alleged incident took place between 11.30pm on the night of June 4 and 3am on the morning of June 5.
Investigating officers at Belmullet garda station said a number of people have already come forward to assist with their enquiries, but they are also urging anyone else who was there but who has yet to contact them to do so immediately.
