Bruton: There are no solo runs in government

Richard Bruton has denied that he or his colleagues are involved in "solo runs" on matters of government policy.

Richard Bruton's comments come as tension persists within the coalition, this time on the introduction of a flat rate household charge.

Environment Minister Phil Hogan suggested yesterday that the charge would be implemented in the new year, but his Labour Party colleagues and the Taoiseach say no decision has been made.

Last week, Minister Bruton was said by Enda Kenny to be pursuing a "personal agenda" with regard to JLC wage agreements.

Today, Mr Bruton said his remarks did not amount to a solo run, and that Phil Hogan's do not either.

"(The household charge) is in the Programe for Government...and Phil is developing those proposals...That's how government works," he said.
