Dublin man jailed for storing heroin
A young Dublin man caught storing heroin valued at over €28,000 in a bedroom has been jailed for five years.
Derek Maguire, aged 25, with an address at Dolphin House, Rialto pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of the drugs at Lissadell Green, Drimagh in November 2008.
He had 23 previous conditions including a previous drugs offence.
The court heard Maguire had lost his father at a young age, left school early, got into trouble and began using drugs including cocaine and cannabis.
Judge Martin Nolan said he found reason to deviate from the minimum sentence of 10 years applicable to the offence and imposed a five-year sentence.
