Limerick climber becomes youngest Irish person to scale Everest
Limerick man Mark Quinn has become the youngest Irish person to reach the top of Mount Everest.
The 27-year-old and his team reached the summit in the early hours of this morning, Irish time.
Mount Everest is 8,848 metres above sea level and over 250 people have died attempting to climb it.
Mr Quinn climbed the world's highest mountain for the Shane Geoghegan Trust.
The Limerick-based charity, which was set up after Garryowen rugby player Geoghegan was shot dead in a case of mistaken identity, raises funds for youth programmes in Limerick city, and offers young people an alternative path to a life of crime.
