Kenny: AIB have not requested raising of salary cap
The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has told the Dáil there has been no request to raise the €500,000 ceiling on bankers pay.
The Executive Chairman of AIB has raised concerns that the €500,000 cap will make it difficult to find a replacement for Colm Doherty.
However, Mr Kenny has said he believes there are many competent people who would do the job for that rate of pay.
He stressed that there would have to be a "compelling case" before any raising of the wage would be agreed to.
