A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with a shooting at Smithfield Horse Fair in Dublin in March.

A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with a shooting at Smithfield Horse Fair in Dublin in March.

Christy Quilligan with an address of Sundale Drive, in Tallaght is charged with possession of a firearm and violent disorder.

At the Smithfield Horse Fair in Dublin two months ago, two men were wounded having been shot in the hip and the leg.

Another man was struck by a slash hook at the market on March 6 which was attended by around 4,500 people.

Mr Quilligan appaered in court charged with possession of a .22 Webley Revolve and with violent disorder.

He was arrested and detained at the Bridewell Garda Station and gave no reply when charged after caution.

A bail application will be made after lunch and Gardaí have indicated they will be raising objections.

Christy Quilligan is the fourth person charged in connection with the shooting incident.
