Man charged in connection with dissident activity

A 28-year-old man from north Belfast has this evening been charged with offences relating to dissident republican terrorist activity.

A 28-year-old man from north Belfast has this evening been charged with offences relating to dissident republican terrorist activity.

He is charged with possession of articles likely to be of use to terrorists, and with preparing for an act of terrorism and will appear before Belfast Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The man was arrested after he was stopped and searched while on foot on Thursday night in Belfast. Police recovered items now known to be four power timer units.

The Antrim Road was sealed off for a time last night, while the items were examined by bomb disposal officers.
