Armagh: Three men arrested in relation to dissident republican activity

Gardaí and the PSNI have arrested three men in relation to dissident republican activity in south Armagh.

The arrests were made yesterday evening as part of an on-going operation.

The arrests, described as "significant", follow a raid yesterday afternoon in the Keady area of South Armagh, close to the border with Co Monaghan.

The three men were taken to Antrim PSNI station for questioning, where they are still being held.

The arrests came on the same day that a group calling itself the IRA claimed responsibility for the murder of PSNI officer Ronan Kerr earlier this month.

Speaking in reaction to the claims, Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams said the peace process would not be shaken by the existance of such groups.

Meanwhile the PSNI has also warned of the severe threat being posed by terror groups over the Easter period.

Security forces have been placed on high alert in the North.
