Gardaí continue to investigate woman's death in Laois

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in Co Laois.

The body of the woman, who is in her 30s, was discovered last night at a flat in Mountrath.

A man in his 30s was arrested by gardaí, shortly after the body was found.

He is now being questioned at Portlaoise garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene remains sealed off today and a post mortem examination on the body is now underway.
