CPSU opts for strike action if pay cuts introduced

The Civil and Public Services Union has voted unanimously in favour of industrial action if further pay cuts are inflicted on its members.

At its annual conference, which is taking place today, union members also approved a motion seeking to include overtime when calculating pension entitlements.

General Secretary Blair Horan said the vote to opt for strike action comes in response to suggestions this week by government ministers that further pay cuts may be on the cards.
