Government prepares new 'headshop' drug legislation
The Department of Health is preparing new laws to tackle a fresh wave of legal highs available in Ireland.
Last year, the Government passed the Psychoactive Substances Act to ban a list of products which mimic the effects of illegal drugs.
Concerns were expressed at the time that those producing them would modify them for sale in a new form.
Now a spokesperson for the Department of Health says a memo will be brought to the Government very shortly seeking approval for new legislation, to clamp down on any such substances.
