More than €40m spent on Moriarty Tribunal

It has been confirmed today that €41.96m has already been spent on the Moriarty Tribunal.

However, that figure does not include third-party costs which could push the final bill above €150m.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said most of the money spent so far went on the Tribunal's own legal team over the 14 years: "The three senior council earned €9.6m, €9.3m and €6.8m respectively.

"The three junior council earned €2.4m, €1.8m and €241,000 respectively.

"The solicitor earned €1.8m and the legal researcher earned €754,000."

The Dáil will begin a debate on the Moriarty Tribunal report this evening.
