Calleary: Lowry has questions to answer in the Dáil

Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary has said Michael Lowry should face questions in the Dáil on the findings of the Moriarty report.

However, Mr Calleary stopped short of calling for Mr Lowry's resignation, saying that would be "populist".

Since the document was published yesterday, Fianna Fáil has called for it to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, while Sinn Féin said it requires immediate debate.

The report concluded that former Fine Gael Minister Michael Lowry helped businessman Denis O'Brien secure the State's second mobile phone licence by giving him valuable information.

Mr. O'Brien said it is "likely" he will mount a legal challenge to the findings.

Meanwhile, the possibility of holding a Dáil debate on the report will be discussed by party whips later today.
